BBFC are looking to build on their season following on an impressive come from behind win in the FFA Cup.

The Brindabella Blues FFA Cup run is over after being defeated 6-1 by Canberra FC at Deakin Stadium on Wednesday night.
Brindabella salvaged some late pride when registering a goal on the score-sheet from Curtis Schaeffer in the 63rd minute.
However, the Blues shouldn’t be too disheartened by the score line or result, as it was always going to be a giant task to overcome the defending Canberra Federation Cup champions.
The NPL2 side although not satisfied with the result by any means, can take some encouragement away in the form of simply making the next round and coming up against Capital football’s premier NPL1 side, 2018 treble winners Canberra FC.
The story of Brindabella’s chaotic FFA Cup run dates back to the previous round, when they defeated Narrabundah FC 4-3 after extra-time, coming back from trailing 3-0 after just 31 minutes.
Jonathan Toole was pivotal for the Blues that night at Everlast Park, scoring two goals for the home side, while Schaeffer once again popped up, scoring the winner when he chipped the keeper in the opening minute of extra-time.
Brindabella FC assistant coach Jason Knox was pleased with his team’s resilience by coming back from such a large deficit.
“We all knew it wasn’t our best effort in the first half, we were very average,” said Knox.
“But then in the second half we just started playing our game. We knocked the ball around, created chances and a few of them went in with a little bit of luck.
“By the time we got to extra time we had the momentum,” he said during the Capital Football Season Launch at the National Arboretum prior to the commencement of the NPL season.
When asked about the potential promotion for NPL2 clubs starting from the 2020 season, Knox said his Brindabella Blues side was up to the task.
“Well next season that is definitely the aim [to get promoted]. I think we are a chance if we can keep the same core group of players together.”
“Second half last year we started putting some good performances in. If we keep building on that, start this year strong and everyone sticks together and plays well we can definitely be in those top few positions, if not pushing for promotion next year,” said the assistant coach.
Knox also praised the new facilities down at Calwell, which is home to the Brindabella Blues.
“It’s good, we love it.”
“If we can get more night games there, we’d love it. We can get the crowd down there and create a good atmosphere as we proved the other night in the FFA Cup.”
“We got the lights and there’s a few things to work on there, but once everything is up and running, I think it’ll be a great place and people will want to come and play there,” Knox continued.
Brindabella opened their NPL2 season last weekend with an unfortunate 4-1 loss to Weston Molonglo FC at Woden Park.
Bensah Afiabo was the sole scorer for the Blues in the 89th minute.
Although, Brindabella once again conceded a flurry of goals, they have time and time again proved that they can hit the score-sheet even when being dominated by the opposition – a positive they can draw on after a tough couple of weeks.
The Blues look to turn their recent form around and jump back on the winner’s sheet when they come up against ANU FC at Calwell in round two.
